Every month the Bakersfield Downtown Business Association holds a Mix and Mingle event to help bridge the downtown community together. Hosted by sponsoring members, the events are open to the public at a minimal cost and it's a great way to meet others in the business of growing downtown. Downtown Street Fairs are moving from Chester to Central Park and will be a key component of the DBA's new Event, "Third Thursday".Third Thursday - the perfect blend of the artistry of First Friday and the family-friendly atmosphere of the Downtown Street Faire - will entertain, educate and acquaint Bakersfield with the Mill Creek area.The Fair in the Park has 3 more events:"Christmas in July" July 21st"Hot August Nights" August 18thSpecial Faire "Fall Family Faire in the Park" October 20thThird Thursdays will continue, in September, November and December (without the family fun event in the park) with restaurants, shops, and galleries staying open late along the Mill Creek.Downtown just became twice as nice with Third Thursdays First Fridays!
The recent renovation of Henley's Photo is another boost to the heart of downtown Bakersfield and a great push forward in revitalizing the central core of our city.
Business owner and DBA Chairman's Circle Member Craig Neville is moving to the outside construction and second phase of the Henley's Photo rebuild. This past month has brought a fresh coat of stucco to the building and new paint. Lit signs with the updated logo have been installed to provide a better way for customers to find the location.

The federal courthouse currently under contruction on 19th Street is taking new shape everyday. Recent walls have been lifted into place and cranes can be seen at the site often.
Downtown Bakersfield is seeing a tremendous push toward revival and the courthouse located between S and R Streets will be a major boost to the asthetic apeal of our skyline. The buiding will also creat a wonderful new background for visitors to Central Park's Mill Creek area.
